Seulucids have hands down the best unit roster in the game. Overall my favorites, mainly for flavor reasons. The pikes move in as soon as the enemy is engaged with the main battle line and use their range to attack the biggest blob of enemy infantry through the main line.įor this strategy, the different faction bring different benefits:Įgypt has the late-game best swords (which brings a lot of infantry killing power to the mainline), nice elefants, decent cav, useable archers (not good, but at least with 150 range), early access to thureos spears (who are imho the best option against early game arabian slinger+spears spam as they can beat the slingers with their javelins, have enough missile block to resist the counter fire and can hold the spears forever or until your elephants flank them) and a VERY comfortable starting position. My most successful strategy in the end was a thin main line of spears or swords depending on faction and 4 units of pikes in reserves. Since pikes are very vulnerable to missile spam and their killing power is limited (since they do not push forward) in the last patch, i moved away from a pike main line. Decide between them based on what else they bring to the table. All of them also have early access to pike units in their T1 building. Think we missed one?
